Our new Climate Adaptation fund announces first investment

Building a portfolio of early-stage companies with innovations that help industry & society more effectively deal with water risk
World View: An abstract challenge like 'water risk' shows up as real-word problems for industry and society, translating into fatalities & injuries, weakened economic development, business disruption, and biodiversity loss. More
Sector Focus: Whether too much, too little, or impaired, water risk is a growing headache and a formidable hazard for sectors far beyond water/wastewater utilities. More
Technology Focus: Both the public and private sectors are leveraging innovations from the Industry 4.0 toolbox to prepare-for, adjust-to, and ultimately deal-with water risk in our new climate reality. More
We are amongst the wave of specialized VC funds in Climate Adaptation Tech (CAT) focused on the 5 risk verticals

Our investment in TDRI’s seed round underscores our commitment to addressing climate-driven water risks, particularly those faced by owners of linear assets such as roads.
TDRI is pioneering the use of Time Domain Reflectometry Imaging (TDRI) — an engineering breakthrough that delivers high-resolution data on road moisture content, which is a persistent challenge in both the construction and long-term management of road infrastructure.
Led by founder Damian Butters, TDRI is supporting customers with climate adaptation efforts by equipping road owners, or their consultants, with actionable insights. The technology is remarkably practical: by attaching the TDRI scanner to a standard pickup truck (pictured above), operators can capture detailed, real-time measurements of water risk within road assets.
